Christina Marie Plante missing Arizona 13-year-old girl who vanished without a trace over 32 years ago in 1994 is found alive and well, amid many unanswered questions including whether she had been a willing participant in her own abrupt disappearance?
A 13-year-old girl who went missing in Arizona over 30 years ago has been found decades later according to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office.
Christina Marie Plante disappeared in May 1994 from what is now the town of Star Valley, east of Payson. At the time of her disappearance, Plante left her home on foot to go to a nearby horse stable only to never be seen again, setting off decades of questions of what had happened to the missing teen girl.
Plante who seemingly ‘vanished without a trace from her community’, was last seen on Moonlight Drive wearing a white T-shirt, multicolored shorts and black tennis shoes.
Vanished without a trace but how did missing teen girl survive?
Extensive search efforts were conducted following her disappearance, involving local law enforcement, volunteers and regional resources. With no viable leads, Plante’s case was entered into a national missing children database.
On April 1, the sheriff’s office announced that its cold case unit had reexamined the case using modern investigative techniques and developed new leads that resulted in locating Plante alive more than three decades later according to 12News.
‘Investigators have confirmed her identity and her status as a missing person has been officially resolved,’ the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Authorities did not provide details about where Plante has been or how she was located. The sheriff’s office said no additional information would be released out of respect for her privacy at this time.
After more than 30 years of unanswered questions, the case has finally reached a resolution, while leaving behind just as many questions about what really happened all those years ago, including whether Christina Plante was a willing participant of her own disappearance?
