Haltom City murder-suicide at Birdville ISD parking lot leaves 3 dead after man believed to be father shoots and kills woman and kindergartener child thought to be his daughter after dispute.
A suspected murder-suicide in Haltom City, Texas left three people dead including a kindergartener outside a high school football stadium.
Police responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of Birdville ISD‘s football stadium, located in Haltom City, Texas, at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, according to local reports.
When officers arrived, they found three people — an adult male, an adult female, and a female child — deceased at the scene, WFAA reported. One of the victims was identified as the shooter the outlet reported.
Domestic dispute involving family unit leaves 3 dead including young female child
Police say that the fatal shootings followed a domestic dispute in the parking lot of the football stadium. The man and the woman separately drove their vehicles into the parking lot before the male shot and killed the woman and female child while inside the vehicle. One of the victims died at the scene, while another died at the hospital.
The shooter is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot a short time later according to a release from the Haltom City Police Department.
Leading up to the shooting, the suspect drove a U-Haul vehicle into the parking lot moments after the vehicle with the adult female and child pulling up according to the the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Identities of shooter and victims yet to be released
‘They definitely know each other, and we believe they have some kind of family relationship,’ Sgt. Rick Alexander of the Haltom City Police Department said on Friday, according to FOX 4.
The identities of the victims have not yet been made public, though the deceased child was identified as a kindergarten student at Cheney Hills Elementary, a school in the district, by Birdville ISD officials.
Birdville ISD released a statement in the aftermath that stated it was ‘heartbroken this has occurred in our community, and we are working closely with Haltom City Police as they investigate this incident.’
