A 13-year-old Alabama boy has been hailed a hero after intervening after his father attempted to strangle his mom during a domestic violence incident at their home in Foley.
According to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called Monday night to a home where Daniel Hernandez-Lopez, had tried to strangle his wife during an argument.
Investigators say Hernandez-Lopez, 33, then went outside and was confronted by the couple’s 13-year-old son.
Hernandez-Lopez allegedly lunged at the boy and tried to hit him with a bicycle.

The sheriff’s office said the teen punched Hernandez-Lopez several times in the face, possibly knocking him unconscious until deputies arrived, KVFS12 reported.
Authorities said Hernandez-Lopez appeared to be highly intoxicated and may have been under the influence of narcotics at the time of the argument.
Deputies also noted that the boy’s father is not a U.S. citizen.
Hernandez-Lopez has been charged with domestic violence, strangulation and booked into the Baldwin County jail.
Authorities have not released additional details about the case as the investigation continues.
