Peter Jesus Cabanzon, South Miami, Florida man shoots & kills his husband, Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez then self. Couple had only just married last year. No known motive.
A Florida man shot and killed his husband then self at their South Miami residence over the weekend according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
South Miami Police officers responded to a home at 5711 Twin Lake Drive at around 2:55 p.m. Sunday for reports of a shooting, according to the sheriff’s office. Once there, they found the bodies of two men who had been shot, one at the hands of the other who then turned the murder weapon upon themselves.
Domestic related murder-suicide involving two South Miami in relationship
Deputies identified the victim as 46-year-old Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez and the suspect shooter as 63-year-old Peter Jesus Cabanzon, NBC6 reported.
‘MDSO Homicide detectives responded and took over the investigation,’ the sheriff’s office said. ‘One of the males was suffering from a self inflicted gunshot wound, which has led detectives to believe this incident to be a domestic related murder-suicide.’
WPLG reported the two men marrying in February 2025.
Shooter described as great neighbor as domestic violence tragedy baffles neighbors
A neighbor who declined being identified said he couldn’t believe the news, remembering both men as peaceful and kind.
‘Peter is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, honestly like a very very great neighbor. People say that about their neighbors but Peter truly was a great neighbor, he would help us out. I was super surprised to hear that it came from there,’ he told NBC6. ‘We would help each other out if we were having house issues together. Like we had a water leak once and Peter came to help us out and fix it so he was always there, you know.’
Neighbors said Cabanzon was a teacher, and records showed he was licensed to work with students with disabilities.
Authorities had yet to release a motive in the apparent murder-suicide.
