A teacher in San Diego, California has been fired after uploading video saying that ‘Israelis steal kidneys, livers, and eyes,’ N12 reported on Saturday.

A former member of the San Diego Unified School District in California, the teacher, identified as Nasreen Atassi, was removed following outrage from the Jewish community. There’s no chance we would allow such a person to enter classrooms,’ a local Israeli told Israeli TV station, N12.

According to StopAntisemitism, a US-based watchdog group, Atassi was a special education teacher. In shared video online, the entity called for the immediate ouster of the educator.

Atassi was removed from the education body less than a day from the time the video was shared online according to The Jerusalem Post.

The firing comes amid heightened scrutiny of antisemitic incidents in California schools, particularly following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza. Jewish advocacy groups have reported a surge in antisemitic rhetoric, vandalism and harassment on school campuses statewide. Meanwhile a recent report cited Israeli military acknowledging at least 70K civilians dead in the more than 2 year bloodshed in Gaza.
