Nancy Guthrie ransom note says Savannah Guthrie daughter is safe and knows what is going on as alleged kidnapper demands millions and gives second deadline for Monday according to TMZ founder, Harvey Levin speaking to Sean Hannity.
Fox News’ host, Sean Hannity has shared a video post featuring TMZ founder, Harvey Levin, stating that the celebrity outlet had received a ransom note from the alleged kidnapper(s) of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, stating the parent is ‘scared and knows what is going on.’
The note gave hard deadlines and cut off any communication or negotiations. Levin believes the sender may be in the Tucson, Arizona area, close to the home where the 84-year-old mother was allegedly abducted late Saturday night.
Nancy Guthrie is aware of abductor demands
States Harvey Levin, ‘We’re not sure that this is really written by the person who has Nancy,’ he explained. ‘But I will say the letter begins by saying she is safe but scared, and they go on to say she knows exactly what the demand is. They are, through us, telling the family exactly what they are demanding, and they are saying that Nancy is aware of it. They are also saying that this will be their only communication and that they are done communicating and negotiating—here’s the deal, and that’s it.
‘As the clock ticks, that’s one of the reasons the FBI and other authorities have gotten desperate here, because as far as we can tell, it’s impossible to trace the origin of this email. I will say there are real reasons, based on what’s written there, that I believe this person is within the radius of the Tucson area.’
‘We knew she wore an Apple watch, there are pictures of her with Savannah with that watch,’ he said. ‘They mentioned where the watch was, the placement of the watch in the house — and that’s not something that was out there.’
The ransom note contained two deadlines, according to the FBI, one that expired Thursday and a second deadline set to expire Monday. TMZ has not revealed the specific threat outlined by the alleged ransomer if the deadlines pass, and Levin figured the note is untraceable.
The structure of the ransom note suggests it is not fake, Levin further noted according to WFMD.
‘This is not a letter that was thrown together in a couple of minutes,’ he said. ‘It is a very specific, well-organized, layered letter that really lays things out. This is not AI.’
While the messages reportedly didn’t provide contact information, emails have metadata and can be traced through internet servers, said former FBI counterintelligence operative Eric O’Neill speaking to CNN.
‘For a normal person, it’s difficult to hide where the email is moving through the internet. It’s going to touch servers and those are points of access for the FBI,’ he told CNN.
Bitcoin is also a traceable currency which authorities can track.
‘You can actually see where that Bitcoin address is in that wallet, and any transactions that go in and out,’ said O’Neill. ‘That gives the FBI in particular a very excellent avenue to start learning who owns the wallet, because at some point when you take money in cryptocurrency, you have to turn it into cash, otherwise it’s worthless.’
Police say the 84-year-old woman was removed from her home against her will and that her pacemaker has been disconnected from the app it syncs to since she was last seen on Jan. 31.
To date, no suspect has been identified, nor has any person of interest been identified in the ongoing investigation into Nancy’s whereabouts.
