The cause of death for missing 53-year-old Chicago CPS teacher whose lifeless body was found in Lake Michigan, Monday afternoon, January 12th was released on Tuesday.

Linda Brown’s death was ruled a suicide by drowning following an autopsy on Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s OfficeFOX 32 reported.

Brown’s body was recovered in the lake near the 3100 block of South Lake Shore Drive on Chicago’s South Side around noon after her husband woke up on Saturday January 3rd to find his wife not in bed at their Bronzeville home.

Couple had an early night, nothing seemed amiss, but when Linda’s husband woke up, she was already gone

At the time Antwon Brown had assumed his wife had left for a 9 a.m acupuncture appointment. Speaking to press, Antwon said the pair had a quiet night at home and that nothing had seemed amiss.

‘I woke up at 8:45 a.m., and she was gone,’ Antwon previously told press, adding that he ‘broke down.’

Surveillance video in fact showed the 53-year-old making her over a pedestrian bridge towards Lake Michigan just on 3 a.m, near the vicinity of where investigators found the missing woman’s car on January 7th, but with no sign of the missing wife.

Video showed her parking near base of the 35th Street Bridge, getting out and walking across the bridge. There is no video of her returning over the bridge or getting back into her vehicle.

Brown, a special education teacher at Robert Healy Elementary Schoolwas last seen behind the wheel of a blue 2021 Honda Civic in the 4500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Bronzeville, about two miles southwest of the White Sox’s Rate Field, police said.

Chicago CPS teacher gripped by mental health issues, anxiety and panic attacks

Her missing vehicle was found abandoned days later near East 35th Street and South Lake Park Avenue close to where surveillance video captured the 53-year-old wandering alone along a pedestrian bridge leading to the lakefront.

While the reason Brown took her own life is unclear, Antwon said his wife of 11-years had taken a leave of absence from her job after struggling with mental health issues, but was set to return to work on Jan. 5.

‘She has a little mental issues going on, and she took a leave of absence from her job to get help for that,’ Antwon told CBS Chicago last week.

‘As school was getting closer, it was kind of getting worse, like the anxiety, the panic attacks.’
