Marlon Cox black Louisiana man accosted by Matt Madere ‘white man’ in Ascension Parish confrontation, demanding he get off ‘gated’ grounds in Gonzales during fishing dispute.

A confrontation at an Ascension Parish, Louisiana neighborhood caught on video has gone viral after a ‘black’ man was told by a white man to get off property grounds while fishing at a pond.

Marlon Cox of Donaldsonville, Louisiana had gone to visit a friend who lives in a gated neighborhood along Cessna Street in Gonzales. The friend who was busy, had then given the ‘black’ man permission to go fishing on grounds.

It was while driving along the grounds, Cox was physically railroaded by another driver since outed as Matt Madere, owner of Ace Physical Therapy in Prairieville by social media sleuths.

‘Hey black man, you don’t belong here!’

Explained Cox: I was aggressively confronted by an individual who then used their vehicle in a reckless and dangerous manner, attempting to force me off the road and out of the subdivision. This conduct put my safety at risk and is unacceptable.’

Adding, ‘I was lawfully present and did nothing to warrant this behavior. I am sharing this to raise awareness and to encourage accountability and basic respect within our community.’

Speaking to WBRZ, Cox says that as he was leaving the pond, when he noticed a large truck that was driving aggressively.

‘When I realized he was trailing me, I figured I was going the wrong way. I tried to back up into someone’s driveway to turn around and go the other direction,’ Cox told the outlet.

Cox in turn was blocked.

Racial slurs and roadblocked

‘At that point, I kind of threw my hands up and gestured to him to see if I could get him to roll his windows down and see what’s going on, nothing, just pretty much a death stare,’ Cox told the outlet.

Video footage showed Madere calling Cox racial slurs and telling him he must leave the neighborhood. Only to find the ‘white’ driver blocking him.

‘He proceeds to drive through my friend’s yard and then comes through the driveway, where he then confronts us and then tells a few lies and then hops out of his truck, and I guess in an attempt to assault me,’ Cox alleges.

Cox says he believes the driver was intoxicated at the time of the dispute. Of disconcert the crying of children can be heard coming from the backseat of Madere’s SUV vehicle.

Of note a police report was never filed with Ascension Parish deputies declining to say if there was no active investigation.

Social media responds

The episode has since led to Madere receiving death threats and his business closed.

Posted one social media user, ‘I hope his practice loses so much business! I hate a closet racist!!!!’

Wrote another, ‘Hope this doesn’t skew your outlook on all whites, we all not like this! Hope he gets what he deserves!!’

Responded another, ‘This is such ashame…. Boycott his business!!’

An online bio describes Madere as a ‘grounded Christian who strongly believes in family values.’
