30 year old son had altercation with victims before stabbing them to death at Long Island family deli
Officers had a ‘short conversation’ with Vito before arresting him, police said.
According to authorities, Dambrosio arrived at the store earlier that Thursday morning and had an altercation with his parents in the back room, leading to the son stabbing his mother, and then turning the knife on his father.
Moments later, witness Joe Boros told WABC he had spotted the accused killer walking out of the deli and admitting, ‘I just stabbed my parents.’
The man’s mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while his father succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital, cops said.
Tragedy follows domestic disturbance last month that led to order of protection issued
Several minutes before the murders, Vito allegedly went to a local coffee shop and slapped the buttocks of a female clerk, an incident that led to a 911 call being placed.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, customers told PIX11 News that the couple were ‘very hard-working’ and ‘made a mean hero.’
‘Showed up every day, sometimes it was short-staffed, but he was always here. It always felt he had to open those doors and had to be there for his customers,’ said Ron DiMaggio.
Mental health issues
Cops said Vito was estranged from his family – all from Seaford – over a previous clash with a sibling, who had an order of protection against him issued just last month, police said. The son had an ankle monitor in place, cops said.
Police believe the fatal altercation with his parents was in relation to the domestic incident.
