4 year-old-Milwaukee boy who went missing along with his 12 year old sister found safe as a relative now disputes the guardian’s claims that Sanuya Wooten-Powell abducted her younger brother at gunpoint.
Could it get any more diabolical? A 4-year-old Milwaukee boy feared to have been abducted by his ‘potentially’ armed 12-year-old sister were located on Wednesday morning according to Wisconsin authorities.
An urgent manhunt was launched for Nevin Powell after the boy disappearing from his home on Tuesday night. According to the children’s guardian, the missing toddler was last seen with his sister Sanuya Wooten-Powell, 12.
The two were last seen walking southbound on North Fifth Street in Milwaukee near West Hadley Street in the Harambee neighborhood. Investigators had cautioned the wanted 12-year-old girl might be armed with a weapon and ‘dangerous.’
Relatives allege 12-year-old sister and 4-year-old brother living in ‘unsafe’ conditions
A report via WISN confirmed that the children were found safe just on 10 a.m, Wednesday morning. It remained unclear where the children were found, with the outlet stating that the pre-teen girl was arrested while the toddler boy was taken to Child Protection Services.
The children’s guardian reported the siblings missing. Talking to WISN the female guardian, Dominecka, who didn’t want to reveal her last name, said she had custody of the brother and sister for two years.
The guardian claims the 12 year old ‘snatching’ the 4 year old sibling out of the bed with a gun and then leaving their shared residence. Those claims nevertheless were disputed by relatives who allege the siblings were ‘running away’ from an unsafe living situation.
According to the children’s aunt, Latonya McKinnie, ‘when Sanuya went home to bring her brother to safety, that’s when the guardian made up a fabricated story… basically an Amber Alert lie, that my little niece was armed and dangerous. And she was not.’
Police decline to confirm whether 12-year-old Milwaukee girl was armed with gun
Asked why they they left, the aunt alleges that the siblings were ‘being abused at the home.’ Adding, ‘for close to two years.’
The guardian vehemently denied those allegations, including claims about depriving the children from eating, and the residence being dirty.
‘For them to make accusations on me about them getting beat on, about them not eating, about my house being dirty, you know, that’s real (expletive) up. That’s (expletive) up for real, when I took them in to take care of them,’ the guardian told WISN 12 News.
Asked if police recovered a gun, officials declined to neither confirm or deny the presence of a weapon.
Nevin had previously been described by officials as being three foot tall, weighing around 50 pounds, and wearing blue jeans and a navy blue shirt with no jacket or shoes.
Sanuya was said to be five feet five inches tall, weighing around 130lbs, with red hair.
Officials said Sanuya was wanted by authorities before the alleged abduction, and had a felony warrant out for her arrest for battery to a police officer.
The two were also alleged to have been possibly traveling in a silver or light blue Hyundai Santa Fe, as driven by the pre-teen girl, with no license plate, cops said.
