Homeless man shoves woman to her death from elevated Miami train platform in unprovoked attack at Dadeland South metrorail station.
A Florida man is facing second degree murder charges for pushing a woman to her death following a confrontation at a Miami Metro-train platform last week.
Jorge Gomez, 45, of no fixed address was arrested Thursday on a second-degree murder charge in the death of 32-year-old Kanisa Love, according to an arrest report.
According to WPLG, on Nov. 15, Miami-Dade Sheriff‘s deputies and fire rescue responded to the area of Southwest 80th Street and U.S. 1 in South Miami for a report of an unconscious female.
Unprovoked attack at elevated Miami train platform leads to woman’s death
Once they arrived, they found the body of Love lying on the ground under the Dadeland South Metrorail station, the report said.
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined Kanisa Love died from blunt force trauma and classified her manner of death as homicide, NBC6 reported.
In captured surveillance footage, on Nov. 14, at about 12:30 p.m, the victim is seen backing away from Gomez, who had his hands on his head as he following the woman.
It’s while the woman continued to back away that the assailant suddenly pushed the victim off the elevated platform.
‘He pushed the victim off the Metrorail platform resulting in her death,’ a prosecutor said during a Friday court appearance according to WTVJ.
No known motive
Investigators said the fall on her head ultimately killed Love.
It wasn’t until the following morning that Loves body was found under rail tracks.
Officials did not say if the victim knew Gomez or why the man targeted the victim.
A week prior to her death on November 7th, Love had celebrated her 32nd birthday.
Family members say Love hailed from Georgia and had no family in Florida as they now demand to know what led up to the homeless man attacking the woman and killing her.
