Teriomas Tremice Johnson, Pontiac, Michigan mom arrested after leaving her 3 kids to live with no running water, surrounded by human waste and no food.
A 31-year-old Michigan mother is accused of abandoning her three young children in a Pontiac apartment that had no running water, was littered with human waste and rotten food.
Teriomas Tremice Johnson was arrested on Wednesday and booked with three counts of child abuse following an investigation of the squalid home.
According to a press release from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson’s 12-year-old daughter called 911 on Nov. 7 to report a possible break-in at the home. When police arrived, they found the girl and her 9-year-old siblings, a boy and a girl, three cats, and no sign of their mother.
Abandoned children were using ‘cardboard box’ as toilet
Along with the children being left home by themselves, police found the state of the home to be ‘deplorable.’
According to the sheriff’s office, the apartment was ‘littered with rotten food and human and animal feces.’ The home seemingly had no working plumbing, police said, noting that ‘the sinks were clogged’ and the children were apparently using a ‘cardboard box’ as a toilet.
Yes kids, let’s pause for a moment and soak that in. Ready to flush that sh*t away?
But there was more to come…
Cops managed to locate Johnson in Ann Arbor, some 54 miles away from Pontiac. The mom returned three hours after. Her children told police they had not seen their mother since the day before.
Rocky situation blamed for neglect and abuse
Further investigation led police to believe that Johnson ‘frequently’ leaving her children home without any adult supervision. Police also said that while the children were all enrolled in school, their attendance was ‘sporadic.’
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in the press release, ‘The complete lack of compassion and humanity is heartbreaking, and I am eager to see justice served for this unconscionable act.’
But it gets wilder and wackier kids… hold on to your seat belt.
Johnson was taken into custody and appeared for an arraignment via Zoom. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office stated that her bond was originally set at $250,000, only to revoke bail offer upon Johnson ‘throwing a chair and yelling an expletive at the magistrate’.
Johnson remains held with no bond.
The derelict parent’s next court date is scheduled for Nov. 25.
Speaking to CBS News, the father of the 9-year-old girl admitted having a ‘rocky’ relationship with the girl’s mother.
Explained Julian Gary, ‘It was a rocky situation. We were both confused on how to go forward, you know, being younger adults. So, I would hope, and figured that at this age, we would have it figured out, but we never figured it out.’
But where was Pontiac dad?
The father stated that the last few months were especially difficult, after Johnson cutting off contact completely, leaving him in the dark as to what was going on at the residence.
It remained unclear if the father had alerted authorities or social services.
Since his daughter’s rescue, Gary says his daughter is making great progress, surrounded by family and getting ready to start in a new school with her other siblings.
‘They’re bonded. They’ve been through a lot of struggles together, so the last thing I want to do is break that,’ the father said.
Praying that these three children receive the support, love and guidance they so desperately need and have failed to receive…
