Anya ‘Nya’ Raymond found shot dead and dumped on Milwaukee street while young son found wandering miles away. No arrests.
A young boy found wandering alone in Milwaukee earlier this week according to Wisconsin authorities is related to a woman found shot to death in an alley on the same day.
Anya ‘Nya’ Raymond, 31, (also spelt A’nya Raymond) was found with multiple gunshot wounds at around 9 a.m. on November 5, near 41st and Hampton. The discovery came about five hours after the boy was located some three miles away in north Milwaukee, WISN reported. He was not wearing shoes and socks.
Police initially described the child as 5 or 6 years old and thought to be non-verbal. Police later said they’d located his family and he’d been reunited them just after 4 p.m.
Victim’s mother demands justice
Investigators did not say how the boy was related to the dead woman. Commentators on social media claimed the boy being the deceased woman’s son.
The victim’s mother, Misty Raymond speaking to CBS58 said, ‘I want to see justice for my daughter; I want to know who did this.’
The woman said she was alerted to her daughter’s death after seeing an image of her 7 year old grandson online after he’d been found wandering alone.
Milwaukee police say the boy was found at 4 a.m. near 9th and Keefe.
‘They said they found him wandering the streets with blood on his clothes and no shoes on,’ said Raymond.
A GoFundme has since been started to assist Misty navigate her daughter’s death along with her grandson’s displacement.
Milwaukee mother found dead in alley
Local resident, Rosetta Lampkin-Johnson said prior to finding the victim’s body she heard no sound of gunfire. With the resident surmising that the victim had been shot somewhere else before her body being dumped in the area.
‘She must have been killed somewhere else and brought here,’ she said. ‘You don’t want to see that or see anything happen to someone like that, and my heart goes out to the family.’
The neighbor said her dog woke her up in the middle of the night, hours before she found Raymond’s body.
‘This is the one that alerted us that let us knew that someone was out here,’ Lampkin-Johnson told TMJ4.
Authorities have yet to say whether there were any suspects in the case or whether any arrests were pending.
