Perrysburg middle school teacher at Hull Prairie Intermediate in Ohio placed on administration leave after showing up at student’s home unannounced to get missing homework, with teacher saying they sometimes did this for their students and promising pizza party. No charges filed.
Is your child an obsession of their teacher …? A middle school teacher in Ohio has been placed on administrative leave after allegedly going to to a student’s home to see if they had completed a missing homework assignment, officials said.
Hull Prairie Intermediate School Principal Scott Best in a release shared with parents on Friday described filing a police report on Wednesday, March 19, involving a male teacher from the school, whose identity was not publicly divulged, arriving un-invited to the student’s home after following their school bus.
Teacher promised if everyone did their assignments, they would receive a pizza party
Confronted by the student’s parent, the teacher allegedly stated having arrived at the home to confirm whether their child had finished their homework assignment, according to the police report cited by 13ABC.
The student’s father described finding the teacher at the front door of the family’s residence talking to his child. Upset, the father confronted the teacher and asked why they had arrived un-invited to the residence.
The teacher alleged that he wanted to confirm that the student did their assignment, adding that if everyone in the class did their assignments, they would receive a pizza party.
The police report noted that the student’s parent told Best that they weren’t aware that the teacher was planning to arrive at their home and ‘found it to be really weird and concerning.’
The parent in an email to Best told the school official that he was unaware that the teacher was planning on arriving at the family home and that it was ‘out of the ordinary’ for a teacher to follow a student home to pick up a missing assignment when the assignment could have been emailed or uploaded instead.
But there’s more.

Perrysburg teacher allegedly confessed sometimes turning up to students home checking up on ‘homework’
When confronted by the student’s father, the teacher allegedly said they had asked the student if they could follow their school bus home along with the teacher saying that ‘sometimes did this for students,’ WTOL reported.
It remained unclear if there were other students who the teacher had also followed home.
In a message on the district’s website about the matter, Perrysburg Schools Superintendent Thomas Hosler said that the teacher was placed on administrative leave before the start of the next school day.
‘While we are limited in what we can share due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the ongoing police investigation, please be assured that we take any concerns regarding student safety with the utmost seriousness,’ Hosler wrote. ‘The well-being of our students remains our highest priority, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities.’
‘Perrysburg Schools is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students,” he continued. “Staff members are expected to uphold professional boundaries and exercise sound judgment in accordance with their legal, professional, and ethical responsibilities. When a staff member’s actions do not align with these standards, the district will take action.’
The Perrysville Police Division have since revealed an investigation in the matter is ongoing. It remained unclear if the teacher would now face any charges.
