The former American Idol alum charged with murdering his wife allegedly sent an ominous text to his mistress hours before she was found dead.
Prosecutors alleged Caleb Flynn, planned to ‘execute’ his wife, Ashley Flynn, and discussed his intentions with his mistress before her death in February.

While prosecutors had declined to identify the alleged mistress, prior reports had identified her as an active church member of the Christian Life Center in Dayton, Ohio where both Caleb and Ashley frequented. The active church member would later resign amid heightened scrutiny in the case and when her identity was outed.
Present reports identified the rumored girlfriend as Alleigha Botner of Tipp City, Ohio.
During the first day of Caleb Flynn’s trial on Friday, Sept. 18. Flynn, 40, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, volleyball coach Ashley Flynn, 37, in their Tipp City, Ohio, home in February and staging the scene to look like a break-in.
Prosecutors alleged during opening statements that Caleb had planned to ‘execute’ Ashley and had discussed his intentions with his mistress in messages exchanged before her death.

Miami County Prosecutor Paul Watkins read several of those messages aloud in court, including one Caleb allegedly sent hours before Ashley was found dead: ‘I choose you. I’m free. Actions will come tomorrow, February 16, a day I’ll never forget,’ according to a Court TV livestream.
In an earlier message, Caleb allegedly wrote, ‘I was up until 4 a.m. last night crying, literally trying to think of ways to kill her and not go to jail,’ Watkins said. Another message allegedly read, ‘If I could literally kill her and not go to hell, I would do it in a heartbeat,’ according to the prosecutor.
Appearing on Day 2 of the murder trial, Caleb Flynn, choked back tears as prosecutors shared gruesome photos of the married couple’s bedroom, where Ashley Flynn she was gunned down in February.

The mistress has not been charged with a crime and is expected to testify during the trial. Caleb and Ashley’s two young daughters, who were asleep at home when their mother was shot, are also expected to take the stand behind a partition.
Prosecutors further allege more than 100,000 text messages between Flynn and his longtime mistress being exchanged, including the ex-pastor plans to kill wife, Ashley.
Caleb, who briefly appeared on American Idol’s 12th season in 2013, had gushed about how much he loved his wife when he competed on the competitive singing reality show.
During the murder trial, Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to murder, aggravated murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and witness intimidation. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
