Quadajah ‘Holly’ Johnson charged with first degree murder of Romeca Meeks-Blackmon, shot and killed while dropping off her 6 year old son at school.
A woman has been charged with the fatal shooting of a Chicago mother while dropping off her young son at Chicago’s South Loop earlier this year.
Quadajah Johnson aka Holly Johnson was charged with the first degree degree murder of Romeca Meeks-Blackmon, 31, outside of her young son’s school just after Labor Day.
The slaying occurred on September 8th near Cermak Rd and State st.

The shooting came following the two women being embroiled in ongoing conflict over a man that they were still or had previously been involved with. Both women shared children with the same man, only identified as Carlos Losos Way on social media.
At the time of the shooting, Quadajah ‘Holly’ Johnson was taken into custody, with Area Three detectives stating that they would be further investigating the incident according to Eyewitness News.

At the time, Johnson had claimed acting in self defense after pulling up next to the victim’s vehicle with her boyfriend, Carlos Losos Way, the victim’s former boyfriend, only for the two women to get into a ‘heated discussion,’ before the victim being fatally shot in the face.
Despite witnesses eyewitness accounts and graphic video shared on social media, including images of the suspect having gone back to the her vehicle and pulling out the murder weapon and then running back to the scene, Johnson was freed. Her release led to wide outrage and demands for justice for the victim.
Moments before being gunned down, Romeca Meeks had kissed her 6 year old son goodby and told the boy (who happened to be the son of the suspect’s boyfriend, who she also shared a young child with) to ‘have a great day’ at school. Her last post shared on social media was of a handwritten note she had written and packed in the boy’s lunchbox.
Less than an hour later, the mom would be shot dead after dropping off the six year old at his school.
The tragedy comes after Johnson having previously filing protective orders against Blackmon dating back to December 2024 and as recently over the summer according to FOX32. The victim’s family has alleged those orders were an attempt to create a paper trail against Blackmon.
Johnson is set to appear in court on Thursday, 11 a.m.
