A former ‘Teacher of the Year‘ has been suspended after trying to mow down her baby’s daddy with her car in a Walmart parking lot.
Sade Delesia Nacheyle Nelson, a 2025 award winner at St. John’s High School in Charleston, South Carolina, allegedly assaulted the father of her child and his girlfriend during an Oct. 18 custody exchange, Live5News reported.
Nelson, 37, allegedly punched her baby daddy and his girlfriend, with witnesses telling police that she had attempted to ram him with her car.

The father alleged opened the passenger door of her car to pick up his son when Nelson began punching him repeatedly according to the Daily Mail.
The man fell out of the car trying to escape her blows. The un-named boyfriend claimed Nelson opening the passenger door and striking his girlfriend in the face.
Security footage showed Nelson getting into her vehicle and driving directly at the man.
The father told cops he was actively dodging Nelson’s car as she was trying to run him over.
The attack continued until bystanders intervened, with Nelson getting back into her car and fleeing the scene with her son.
Teacher of the year insists she’s the real victim
During police questioning, Nelson claimed her child’s father had struck her and her son after opening her car door and that she had sought to go around the vehicle to get his license plate only for the man to allegedly hit and causing her to ‘fall back.’
A police report stated that Nelson then approached him again and allegedly assaulted him as he backed away.
Nelson allegedly fled the scene with her son before police arrived, with a friend saying he told her she would speak to the cops on her behalf.
Upon her arrest our collective hero was charged with third-degree assault and battery, domestic violence of a high aggravated nature, unlawfully placing a child at risk of or causing harm or willfully abandoning a child.
Charleston County School District spokesperson Andy Pruitt confirmed that Nelson had been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
‘Because this is a personnel matter and an active investigation, the district cannot provide any additional details at this time,’ the school official said.
Sade Nelson has a bachelors and masters degree in criminal justice along with a second masters in school counseling.
The counselor has worked for Charleston County School District since 2012. When she was named Teacher of the Year back in January , tributes online praised her as ‘simply amazing’ and highlighted her kindness.
