Thomas Mellick Hensler, Michigan man leaves sexually explicit note on minor’s car at Auburn Hills Target parking lot with his own number leading to his arrest. Predator who has history of targeting other minors now faces child sex charges.
He couldn’t help himself … A Michigan man who allegedly left a note on a teenager’s car offering to pay her for sexual favors was arrested after leaving his own phone number on the message.
Thomas Mellick Hensler, 38, of Clarkston, received a call from cops not long after he allegedly left the note on the 17-year-old girl’s car last Tuesday.
The victim was at a Target in Auburn Hills on March 18 when she returned to the parking lot only to find a ‘suspicious’ note pinned to her vehicle.
The communication was described as, ‘sexually explicit and soliciting in nature’.
The teen reported it to the police, who used the number supplied to contact Hensler, who they determined was still inside a car in the parking lot, the Auburn Hills Police Department said in a Facebook release.
Police said they found what they believe to be methamphetamine inside his vehicle. Hensler was arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office the following day charged the man with child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and drug possession according to the release.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald told Mid Michigan Now that police had received reports from other parents about similar incidents.
‘Multiple parents have since reported their children found similar notes on their cars with the same phone number,’ she said.
‘If you believe your children were targeted in this way, please contact your local police.
‘We take every incident seriously because we need to know if this was serial behavior.’
Appearing in court, the man’s bond was set at $25,000 cash/surety, with no 10 percent allowed.
If Hensler posts bond, he is ordered to wear a GPS tether and is prohibited from returning to the Target or having any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
He is due back in court on March 27. If convicted on all counts, Hensler could spend up to 50 years in jail.
