Missing Hawaii woman, Hannah Kobayashi, was caught up in drugs & Green card marriage scam before being found, as it is now revealed, her ex boyfriend, Amun Miranda, had also participated in his own Green card scam, with Hannah’s fake Argentinian husband, Alan Cacace’s real life Argentian girlfriend, Marianne.
A report has revealed that a 31 year old Hawaii woman who was reported missing last month and whose whereabouts stoked national intrigue was struggling with drug addiction along with embroiled in an alleged fake marriage, Green Card scam.
The new revelations follow missing woman, Hannah Kobayashi, 31, reaching out to her family on Wednesday to say she was safe and well, after having crossed last month to Mexico after having meant to travel from Hawaii to NYC, for a ‘bucket list’ to do trip.
$30,000 pay off for Hannah Kobayashi fake Green card marriage
The missing woman’s family became alarmed after Kobayashi left her home of Maui, Hawaii on November 9 and failed to make a connecting flight on to NYC. Except investigators have since revealed, she intentionally missed her flight and by the 12th would be on a bus en route to Mexico, with surveillance capturing entering Tijuana.
At the time of her original flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles, Kobayashi, wasn’t on the flight by herself. She was on her way to NYC, alongside her new Green Card husband Argentina-native Alan Cacace, in a bid to hoodwink immigration officials into believing their marriage was genuine, the dailymail reported.
Also on the same flight was Kobayashi’s ex-boyfriend, Amun Miranda, a local carpenter and his own Green Card wife Marianne – who just happened to be Cacace’s girlfriend.
The four had boarded the flight after Cacace had allegedly given Kobayashi $15,000 with the promise of a similar sum once the immigration documents that allowed him to stay in the United States were issued.
The ruse of their sham marriage was already in the works after they tied the knot in October. Pictures of the ceremony were shown to Kobayashi’s coworkers at the Maui smoke shop Up ‘N Smoke.
In a bid to get immigration officials to believe that his marriage to Hannah was ‘legitimate’ Cacace according to coworkers had persuaded the 31 year old to take a trip to NYC with him, where they would take pictures ‘together’ in front of the Empire State Building, in Central Park or on Broadway or by the Statue of Liberty.
Hannah Kobayashi and ex boyfriend break up drama
‘There was no secret,’ Desiree, Kobayashi’s co-worker told the dailymail. ‘She told us about her plans.’
‘The Argentinian couple wanted to hop on the trip at the last minute because it presented an opportunity for photos of their “romantic vacation”,’ Desiree explained.
But the dynamics of the group quickly got complicated.
Kobayashi’s colleagues told the dailymail she had mixed feelings about going on the trip – feeling both excited by checking off a location on her bucket list where she could see relatives, but also frustrated she’d have to share her flight with ex-boyfriend, Miranda.
Miranda according to Hannah’s co-workers had broken up with Hannah two months earlier after finding out she had rekindled a relationship with a former DJ boyfriend. Prior to the breakup they had planned to go on the trip to NYC together. Despite the break up (which according to Hannah’s co-workers had left her ‘stunned’) he decided to go to NYC, albeit he had agreed to maintain ‘no contact’ with Hannah.
Also complicating matters was tension between Cacace’s ‘real life Argentinian’ girlfriend, Marianne and Hannah, with the Argentinian woman according to Hannah’s co-workers jealous of her marrying Cacace.
Hannah Kobayashi drug addiction woes
When Hannah failed to catch her connecting flight to NYC, and amid claims of cryptic texts and Hannah’s family reporting her missing, Hannah’s co-workers reached out to her ex boyfriend to find out what had happened.
Miranda responding to Hannah’s co-workers said his best guess was that Kobaayashi was off taking drugs, or having a mental health crisis.
‘To be honest,’ he wrote in texts, ‘from what her friends and her mom have told me from the things she said to them leading up to this it’s very possible to be having some kind of a mental breakdown from lack of sleep, too much psychedelics, or coke. I don’t know.’
In her hometown, sources say Kobayashi was known to use psychedelics, cocaine and whippets – or nitrous oxide.
A person close to Amun Miranda’s family told the dailymail that Kobayashi had a ‘heavy drug problem’ and that it was a factor in her breakup with Amun.
‘Amun really didn’t like her drug habit,’ said Anita Lopez, who lives on his mother’s property. ‘He was just disgusted by it.’
According to Hannah’s co-workers, Hannah and Miranda lived together leading up to their recent break up and had made plans to travel to NYC earlier in the year. Even though they were now no longer together, Hannah was committed on still going to NYC, albeit with the Argentinian couple in tow, who had traveled from Argentina to live in Maui for the beached and higher paying jobs.
Instead of following through with her end of the bargain, Hannah at the last minute opted to head to Mexico, where it is thought she had been since November 12. How or why she traveled to Mexico (and with whom?) and why she had declined letting family know she was safe until now remained unclear.
Perhaps the biggest tragedy is Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi jumping to his suicide death last month after flying to Los Angeles hoping in a bid to re-connect with his missing daughter only for the man to grow increasingly despondent when he could not locate her and taking his own life. Both father and daughter had been estranged leading up to Hannah’s disappearance.
The whereabouts of the Argentinian couple remains unknown, with Hannah’s ex boyfriend, Miranda declining to return the dailymail’s messages, with locals saying the man (who presumably was also paid his own tidy sum for his own Green Card scam) is ‘lying low to avoid attention in the aftermath of Hannah’s disappearance.’
Since a family attorney releasing a statement that Hannah was found safe, the family has implored that the ‘public respect their privacy.’
