Rebecca and Rory Geiger dead after domestic violence episode leads to Sarpy County shooting as responding Omaha, Nebraska deputies are now investigated.
A Nebraska teacher and her husband are dead following a domestic violence incident in Omaha’s Sarpy County erupting in gunfire.
Rebecca Geiger, 45, and Rory Geiger, 44, died Monday at their Sarpy County residence south of Highway 50 and Giles Road after a domestic violence incident led to the husband allegedly shooting and killing his wife, with the husband now thought to have been gunned down by responding deputies.
Police responded to the scene following a 911 call circa 3am from the victim’s 19 year old daughter saying her father had shot her mother and that he was pointing a gun at her, KETV reported.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding deputies faced gunfire through the window of the house. Officers reportedly shot back. They went into the home and found a victim. Life-saving measures were performed on the victim, but they were pronounced dead, officials said during a press conference.
Five deputies that were involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, authorities stated. None of them were injured, 6 News reported.
At the time of the domestic violence episode, four people were in the Meadows housing development home — a man, a woman, a 19-year-old girl and a 14-year old girl, Greg London, the chief deputy for the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office told reporters.
London said the 19-year-old called 911 and said ‘Dad shot mom.’
Rebecca Geiger according to her Linkldn account was a teacher at Omaha’s Westside High School.
Investigators are looking at bodycams worn by the deputies, as well as cameras inside and outside the home.
The tragedy follows police previously responding to the house a month earlier, where they were told ‘don’t come back,’ London told reporters.
‘We are still in the infancy stages of the investigation,’ London reiterated.
