Angela Dawn Barnes, Southlake Carroll ISD teacher arrested having sex with minor student over the summer, charged with sexual assault of a child.
A Texas teacher was arrested on Monday following allegations that she had an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a former ‘underage’ student over the summer, authorities said.
Angela Dawn Barnes, 45, a Southlake Carroll ISD teacher is accused of having the illicit tryst with the teen boy off campus between June and July of this year, Keller Public Safety and school officials said.
Authorities launched a probe in late September and determined Barnes who taught at Carroll Middle School, was having an alleged sexual relationship with the minor, according to police.

Abuse of position of trust, power and authority
Barnes was soon after placed on leave by the Carroll Independent School District after school leaders became aware of the allegations against her, according to WFAA.
Following her arrest, Barnes was charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student, and booked in Keller Regional Jail.
‘The District was made aware the alleged offense took place off-campus over the summer within the jurisdiction of the Keller Police Department,’ the school system said.
Adding, ‘Based on the information we have received, no incidents occurred on CISD campuses. CISD is working in collaboration with Keller Police and Child Protective Services as they investigate the allegations.’
The district is located in the city of Southlake, a suburb of the Dallas area.
Keller Public Safety said at this time it doesn’t believe there are more alleged victims of Barnes.
Not immediately clear is what led to the female educator abusing her position of authority, trust and power and subjugating her male victim.
