Chase Allen Bosshardt, Toquerville, Utah man driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol accidentally kills his girlfriend, Ashley Cheyenne Jones when he turns to kiss her only to crash vehicle into another car as driven by Jermarquis Echols along Minneapolis highway.

Utah driver accidentally killed his girlfriend when he tried to kiss her while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Chase Allen Bosshardt, 32, of Toquerville, Utah, was driving along Highway 10 north of Elk River, Minneapolis when he delivered the fatal kiss to Ashley Cheyenne Jones on July 19.

A witness told police the couple’s Kia Soul was ‘traveling so fast that it was bouncing as it went through dips in the road’, before it swung left into the path of a BMW SUV travelling in the opposite lane.

Jones, 36, was declared dead at the scene while Bosshardt was treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids where he was charged with criminal vehicular homicide the Star Tribune reported.

The man is due to appear at Sherburne County District Court after he is released from hospital.

Bosshardt told a trooper that he had been smoking marijuana and drinking until 6am the night before.

He also said he did not think Jones, from Moutain Ranch in California, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

After waking on July 19 he had joined Jones at McCoy’s Pub in Elk River where he ‘had one tall beer, but nothing to eat before getting into his car,’ he told police.

But a staff member told investigators that Bosshardt drank two tall beers, a smaller beer and a mixed drink at the bar before the couple headed off according to the dailymail.

He was still over the legal limit of 0.8 percent blood alcohol concentration by the time he was tested in his hospital bed and admitted he had been ‘making out in the vehicle before the crash occurred’.

A Minnesota State Police report noted that Bosshardt’s car was making a left turn off the westbound lane when the collision took place.

Jermarquis Echols, who was driving the BMW said he hit the brakes when he saw the Kia veer across his path but could not stop in time to avoid the crash.

The 46-year-old from Afton, in Minnesota, was travelling with his partner Jennifer Reich, 45, and their 17-year-old daughter Elliana, and all were treated for minor injuries at the same hospital as Bosshardt.

An officer with the Elk River Police Department said he saw a large cloud of dirt and debris filling the air as he arrived on the scene seconds after the crash at 3.39pm.

Bosshardt, an office manager at home security from Vivint, got married in 2015 and is thought to have two young children with his former partner.
