Joel Ghansham American Airlines passenger causes flight attendant to have a God moment after hurl of abuse and passive aggressive behavior goes overboard.
When a bitchy passenger takes exception to an even more bitchy flight attendant (and airliner) …
‘You must be God so you do it!’ A battle of egos and up-manship led to an American Airlines flight bound for South America turning back to NYC after a a disagreement between a passenger and a flight attendant reached boiling point.
The plane returned to John F. Kennedy International Airport two hours into its flight to Georgetown, Guyana on Tuesday, Stabroek News reported. The flight according to the airliner had to be diverted because of a ‘disruptive’ passenger on board. A claim that the passenger in question has challenged- forcing the airliner to go through its bag of tricks and give free give-ways in a bid to patch matters.

‘You must be my waiter!’
Joel Ghansham, the passenger, denied that he was disruptive in an interview posted on YouTube. Ghansham explained that he recently underwent spine surgery and could not lift things. Ghansham said he then asked a light attendant to help him stow his bag in the luggage compartment, only for the attendant to allegedly refuse.
‘He was like, ‘I don’t do that, I don’t get paid for that,” Ghansham said, referring to the flight attendant’s response to his request. Ghansham added that he was seated in business class.
Ghansham said another flight attendant then apologized to him and helped him stow his bag.
But there was more to come. Buckle up, turbulence up ahead kids.
An hour into the flight, during meal service, the flight attendant who refused to help Ghansham with his bag asked the business class passenger if he wanted something to drink, to which our catty passenger responded, ‘No thank you, waiter.’
Yes kids, you all know where this sh*t is going.
‘You must be God so you do it,’
According to Ghansham’s interview with Demerara Waves, the flight attendant then told Ghansham he was not a waiter and that he ‘had the power to turn the plane.’
Brace yourselves. Extreme turbulence ahead.
‘You must be God so you do it,’ Ghamsham responded. Within a few short minutes, the sound of the pilot’s voice proceeded to announce that the plane was turning back to New York City.
Upon landing, Ghansham was offloaded at JFK airport.
Ghansham has since denied ever getting into an ego bitch tit for tat fight with the flight attendant.
‘There was not a disruption. I never got up. There was not an argument, there was not a confrontation, nobody touched each other. He was wearing a mask. He wasn’t even loud. It was just his pride,’ Ghansham said in the interview.
At JFK Airport, Ghansham was met by a police officer and a Transportation Security Administration agent who interviewed him, before allowing him to leave the airport.
Offered AA in an email to Insider in its decision to turn the plane back: ‘Safety and security are our top priorities, and we thank our customers for their understanding and our team members for their professionalism in managing a difficult situation.’
American Airlines in a bid to make good with Ghansham has offered the chagrined passenger 10,000 free air mile points, except Ghansham is holding his ground and has said he intends not to accept the bribe.
Because who can refuse the spectacle of a catty passenger telling a commercial airliner to ‘F**K O**’
