7 Best Watches From the Only Watch 2021 Auction: Craftmanship, timelessness, luxury and well wrought materials in creating high caliber time pieces.
This event is where we see the most valuable watches today. You can say that this event is one of the most important red carpets for high-tier watches, where collectors take out priceless timepieces for auction–and this only happens every other year!
The Only Watch is a charity auction featuring the most luxurious timepieces made by the best watchmakers in the industry. Proceeds from this auction usually go to important research projects. It has even raised more than 70 million euros today after eight editions in the future! Today, we will share with you some of the most sought-after timepieces for this year’s Only Watch auction.
1. Audemars Piguet
A prestigious luxury watch brand like Audemars Piguet will never miss the Only Watch auction for the year 2021. For this year’s much-awaited watch auction, Audemars Piguet entered the Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin. This watch in sandblasted titanium also has lustrous Bulk Metallic Glass. They even think that this watch will be the star of the night! This does not come as a surprise, though, because the Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin is one of the most sought-after watches. What is more, is that this watch has new materials. The Audemars Piguet costs about $173,000 – $345,000.
2. Baltic
A good way to start this list of show-stealer watches up for auction is the Baltic watch. Baltic is one of the brands they call a microbrand. Microbrands are small-scale brands that have a market or geographical focus. Usually, not many people are aware of microbrands, but this spotlight will now definitely put them on watch lovers’ radar. Baltic created this watch, especially for the Only Watch. They used Venus Monopusher type of chronograph movement from the 1940s which they refinished. The case of the watch is a prototype that has a pulsometer scale. They even reinforced Breguet numerals on its dial. The Baltic watch costs about $12,960 – $19,440.
3. Hermès
So, it seems that there are no signs of stopping this luxury brand. Aside from its famous bags and accessories, it even establishes its place in the watch industry! It offered a match of H08 watches for men in titanium. It has black gold dials with one-of-a-kind orange highlights that match perfectly with its rubber straps in rubber. This Hermès watch costs about $15,100 – $19,400.
4. Louis Vuitton
Another French luxury brand never misses a party! One of the top luxury fashion brands, Louis Vuitton, also has a watch for the Only Watch auction! The Louis Vuitton Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon also took everyone’s breath away! This titanium watch has an interesting dial. Over its red-to-yellow gradient are black grids laid over. It has 18k rose gold lugs. Oh, and did we mention? It also has sapphire cut in baguette style as hour markers. Louis Vuitton even presented this in a canvas trunk customized with, of course, the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram! However, unlike the usual LV monogram, Louis Vuitton has hand-painted it in color schemes of the Only Watch. This LV watch costs $86,400 – $108,000.
5. TAG Heuer
TAG Heuer’s watch for this year’s auction is a modern take on one of the most famous TAG Heuer watches, the Heuer Monaco “Dark Lord” reference. What is special about this watch is that TAG Heuer used forged carbon for its unique case. Its dial is skeleton-like with a carbon hairspring inside its caliber Heuer 02. This TAG Heuer watch costs $54,000 – $108,000.
6. Tudor
Tudor kept it classy for this year’s Only Watch auction. Only Watch fans might already know how Tudor has had a thing for experimental and beautifully imperfect pieces. This year’s Tudor watch has imperfect materials for its case with its aged Black Bay GMT One watch. This 41mm case has a stainless-steel case coated with black and barrel-tumbled. Its bridges, bracelet, and main plate have the same finish. Its movement has a certified chronometer with a precision of (0/+5 seconds a day). What is special about this, too, is that it is 15,000 gauss magnetic-resistant. This watch has a value of $4,300 – $8,600.
7. Patek Philippe
Last, but not least, is the Patek Philippe timepiece. We all know how Patek Philippe watches usually dominate watch auctions. This year’s Patek Philippe watch is a bit different from the past Grandmaster Chime costing $31m. Patek Philippe entered a desk clock with stunning complications. Patek Philippe took its inspiration from the Patek Philippe watch that car tycoon James Ward Packard received in 1923. This desk clock has moon phases, week numbers, a power reserve, and a perpetual calendar. Its sterling silver case has an America Walnut inlay. This watch costs $432,000 – $540,000 USD.
