Lisa Snyder kills her own children: A Berks County, PA mother’s descent to the point of no return as she plotted the almost perfect murder of her two kids.
Why? A Pennsylvania woman accused of murdering her two kids bought a dog leash the morning before they were both discovered hanging in the basement with the leash wrapped around their necks, prosecutors said.
Lisa Rachelle Snyder, 36, called 911 to report that the children, 8-year-old Conner and 4-year-old Brinley, were unresponsive and hanging Sept. 23 in the Albany Township basement, according to court documents.
Snyder insisted that the children killed themselves, but authorities were dubious and launched a homicide investigation.
‘It would be safe to say that we immediately had questions,’ District Attorney John Adams told reporters Monday. ‘Eight-year-olds, generally that I’m aware of, do not commit suicide.’
Snyder told officers that her son wanted to kill himself and his sister because he was afraid to die alone. She claimed that the boy struggled with bullying and suffered from depression, PennLive reported.
The mom said she believed the children were building forts when she went downstairs and found them hanging.
The coroner’s office said Monday that both children were killed by hanging and ruled their deaths homicides.
Mom’s story just didn’t make sense: ‘I almost got away with it,’
Puzzled by the extreme depravity of the children’s deaths and the physical challenge of lassoing a cable over a basement beam and then affecting their own deaths, investigators sought to retrace movements leading up to Conner and Brinley’s deaths.
Police executed search warrants on Snyder’s home and confiscated her electronic devices, which contained searches for terms such as “carbon monoxide in a car how long to die” and “hanging yourself.’
But that it seemed was just the beginning, with Snyder’s web search history also including her looking into methods of hanging, as well as inquiries about the crime documentary series ‘I Almost Got Away With It,’ police said.
Jumping off the psychological cliff of no return:
Snyder’s Facebook account also revealed the woman having sex with the family dog, PennLive reported. She had shared with another person photos of herself engaging in sex acts with the dog.
Lori Snyder was arrested Monday on charges of murder, child endangerment and evidence-tampering.
‘This is a horrific, tragic incident,’ Adams told reporters. ‘I don’t think that I can stand up here, nor can anyone, explain the horrific loss of two innocent children’s lives. I think it goes without explanation.’
Perhaps most vexing is what ultimately led Snyder to so graphically murder her two children and the woman’s seemingly descent into the point of no return in the prior months until one September morning.
