David Sparks Lancaster, Kentucky man arrested in relation to human remains found on local property believed to be those of missing Lexington mom, Savannah Spurlock.
Savannah Spurlock, a 23-year-old mom of newborn twins, was last seen Jan. 4 with two unknown men as she exited a bar in Lexington, the Richmond Police Department said.
The FBI said Thursday the remains, which have not been positively identified, were located late Wednesday in Garrad County, about 30 miles from the local watering hole where Spurlock was last seen.
Kentucky State Police also arrested 24-year-old David Sparks of Lancaster on charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence WPSD6 reported.
Sparks’ family is believed to own the land where human remains believed to be that of the missing Kentucky mother were found.
It’s unclear whether Sparks was one of the men spotted on surveillance footage with Spurlock as she left the bar.
Are human remains those of Savannah Spurlock?
‘Just before midnight, human remains were located by law enforcement officials,’ Kentucky State Police spokesman Robert Purdy posted on Twitter. ‘As a result of the ongoing investigation the deceased is being taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy & identification.’
Sparks’ arrest citation says a man called his attorney Wednesday to report a foul odor coming from his property. Troopers said that information, in addition to the fact that Sparks ‘is the primary suspect in a missing persons investigation,’ led investigators to search the property WKYT reported.
Spurlock is the mom of four children including a set of infant twins, who were born in December. Her family has said the disappearance has been difficult on the children, particularly her 4-year-old son.
‘He doesn’t know what’s going on, but my fear is how long can that take place, you know?’ her mom, Ellen Spurlock, told WKYT in a January interview.
Not immediately understood is how Spurlock may have ended up at the property where her alleged remains were found and why the mother of newborn twins may have been killed?
