How Donald Trump has managed to split America once again as he continues betting his ‘pragmatic’ and generalist response to the nations ills, irrespective of political correctness will see continue to curry support. Or will it? Image via AP.

Raising eyebrows is a sweeping statement courtesy of Republican Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump who Monday afternoon told if elected he would install a policy of barring all Muslims immigrating and traveling in America. Which of course raises the disturbing question, has the aspiring politician lost the plot or will the general public yet again embrace another seemingly hawkish stance, sure to offend?

The statement comes in the face of the last week’s San Bernardino shooting at the hands of Syed Farook and his jihadi wife, Tashfeen Malik, which saw the Muslim couple slaughter 14 and injure 21 before being killed in turn.

Since the tragedy the couple’s actions have intensified antagonism within America towards Islamic lore, tolerance of the religion and the guise that being Muslim is tantamount to being that of terrorist.

In making his latest statement, the billionaire explained that his instinct ‘is telling’ him what this country needs is a ‘total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.’

The budding politician’s statement comes at a time when Trump, and many of his GOP rivals, had already called on the Obama Administration to halt bringing in 10,000 Syrian refugees during the aftermath of the Nov. 13 ISIS attacks in Paris.

Responding to the call to ban Syrians immigrating to the US, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton saidWe’ve seen a lot of hateful rhetoric from the GOP. But the idea that we’d turn away refugees because of religion is a new low.’

In defending his stance, Trump cited shariah law which ‘authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.’

The sweeping statement which borders on fascist dictum has already sent Trump’s GOP Presidential rivals pouncing on the ‘showman’, with Jeb Bush taking to twitter to say:  ‘Donald Trump is unhinged,’

‘His ‘policy’ proposals aren’t serious.’

Not missing a beat, Gov. Chris Christie, another Republican candidate told via CNN:

‘This is the kind of thing that people say when they have no experience and don’t know what they are talking about,’

‘We do not need to resort to that kind of activity nor should we.’

Adding: ‘We need to cooperate with peaceful Muslim Americans who want to give us intelligence against those who are radicalized.’

It seems even FOX has been disarmed by the billionaire’s stance.

Addressing his fellow peers rebuke, Trump on FOX suggested that most of his Republican peers would come around.

Democrats, not surprisingly, also took a swipe at the billionaire who continues with his disaffected stance towards political correctness to draw in the public who have since come to adore him for his unapologetic stance.

Tweeted the Democrats, Martin O’Malley: removes all doubt: he is running for President as a fascist demagogue.

‘The U.S. is a strong nation when we stand together,’  tweeted Clinton’s chief rival Bernie Sanders. ‘We are weak when we allow racism and xenophobia to divide us.’

And then there were these comments on the web that made me wonder, see what you think?

The media has surely done a good job to convince the ignorant and gullible that Muslims are evil and a threat when the average Muslim is no great a danger than anyone else.

All I know is that a much tougher system should be in place that proves an immigrant wants to become an American. In the past, they integrated… I’ve seen interviews from smart Muslim people across the world etc and they said the policy should be drastically changed because many are NOT integrating and do not care for their country but instead want the country to change for them.

Maybe this will finally kill his campaign?

This will just make his followers love him more. But the GOP is shitting bricks right now. The stronger he gets the more it will fracture the party. It’s fun watching the Frankenstein they created smash everything up.
