How much would you need to get paid to finally get rid of those unwanted pounds…?
Jessica Simpson it seems is on a mission. To become the ideal role model that so many women wish they could be for themselves. Attractive, loved, successful and of course lean.
Courtesy of Weight Watchers the reality star has signed on a contract to the tune of $3 to 4 million where she has become the weight loss provocateur’s spokes model egging others on to follow the outlet’s plan in the hopes of losing weight, something that Jessica Simpson can finally accredit is the case now that the pounds she put on during her pregnancy are beginning to come off.
Appearing on the Katie Couric showthe starlet showed off her markedly leaner body and talked about the difficulty of getting the weight she had put on during her pregnancy. At first she had assumed it was just bloated water that came with being pregnant that would finally go away once she gave birth but to her chagrin (or perhaps to the media’s chagrin who were unrelenting in the condemnation of her weight gain) the weight stayed with her.
Appearing in the outlet’s new commercial promoting it’s weight loss program (cleverly just from the head up) the starlet looking earnestly into the camera offers the following:
“I’m Jessica Simpson and yes, I’m doing Weight Watchers. There is a lot of pressure to lose weight but I’m not a supermodel. I’m just Jessica trying to eat real food in the real world and I really just wanna be healthy for my daughter. So I knew Weight Watchers was the only way to go. It’s working. I’m on my way and it feels amazing. Really I just wanna be a better version of myself.”
One can of course applaud Ms Simpson’s effort to attain a healthy body but one can’t help detect a touch of cynicism as her weight problems are being parceled as that of the every day woman when in fact Ms Simpson is hardly an every day woman given the many advantages she enjoys as a highly paid spokesperson and reality actress. Then again isn’t that why she was chosen to be a role model in the first place as American women go through the daily grind of self condemnation and unrealistic expectations to look like the barbie doll that not even Ms Simpson has been able to approximate for the longest while.
As an aside Ms Simpson did mention on the Katie Couric show that she still intends to lose at least another 15 pounds, which is another way of saying a million pounds closer to some pre determined yardstick that really should only be her business…
