I never got to attend prom and that it seems may be a silent blessing. That said, I pulled aside Kristen and had her explain in charming detail what all you budding ‘promsters’ should expect as prom seasons gets underway, cause unlike me she ended up going, but I am not totally convinced it ended up being the be all memorable experience that it supposedly is for so many. Or is it?- Scallywag.
Tis that season once again kiddies, that being the season of ugly dresses, obnoxious top hats and enough pressure for the young adult society to hold up Hoover damn. Whether it was a night you cherish in the bottom of your heart or a night your desperately trying to scrape out of your memory, we all know the amount of pressure we held on our senior prom night.
For the ladies it was the fairytale night we dreamed about since kindergarten. Finally being able to dress up in a fancy gown paired with the hottest school prince charming we’ve always dreamt of…. Whom much to our surprise turned out to be our good friend who was the only male on the cheerleading squad, or something like that. For the femme fatales (yes I couldn’t stand them either…) who managed to have harems boyfriends at the time they were lucky enough to skip the stressful process of finding a date whom hadn’t been taken or wouldn’t take your being his date as an invitation to screw. But then again the bixches with boyfriends put so much pressure on the night being their fairytale dream that they usually ended up in loud pointless screaming matches with their prince as to why he blinked in the direction of some other hawt female.
For the gents, the financial duty pretty much tops the stress of anything else. Being expected to purchase both your own as well as your date’s prom ticket, the cost of the limo, probably some after party fee, and of course whatever alcohol was consumed throughout the night. Of course, if you got off easy and didn’t have a date you then became the guy who was stuck on the end of each picture clearly stating you were the one without a date. You could of course have decided to completely skip prom but then you were part of the handful of losers who didn’t go to your senior prom…(like Scallywag above) But what did you care you had an awesome night getting high and drunk and playing video games.
All in all we remember the ridiculous amount of pressure we put on that one evening of over commercialized partying. For most, the evening came and went and we all realized what fools we were being sucked into this master money making plot… While others are still trying to live down that horrible teenage drama that went down.
You’ve been warned ‘promsters!’
