The end result – The Recipe Project – a book/CD combo interviewing chefs about their musical tastes and lack there of. For instance, David Chang is down with the Magnetic Fields while Mark Symon can’t stand techno and Mario Batali prefers Tom Waits and Patti Smith on his i-Pod play-list. In essence, The Recipe Project is an extravaganza of food, music and friendliness bringing together chefs, writers, musicians, readers and listeners alike.

The private invitation only event served as a platform for aficionados to rub shoulders with Black Balloon Co-Founders, Leigh Newman and Elizabeth Koch, The Recipe Project co- creators, the rest of the One Ring Zero band and special guests Tanya Donnelly from Throwing Muses, Claudia Gonson of the Magnetic Fields and New York Times Dining Columnist, Melissa Clark.

If that weren’t enough to drag out the ‘nerds’ on a school night, One Ring Zero played two sets while guests happily noshed on pork bun sliders, shrimp cassoulet on toast, chick pea fritters and sipped complimentary Mint Juleps, Pork Slap Ale and Francis Coppola wines. Needless to say, the musically inclined foodie groupies that came out to bop and bite shared a mutual passion for all things edible and tuney to boot.

Let’s face it, Chefs are the new rock stars!
