Last night saw kindred guests, noted celebrities and socialites (see list below) attend The Board of Directors and Young Friends Standing Committee of Save Venice Inc celebration: Un Ballo in Maschera, at the Plaza Hotel.
For those who may not know this, Save Venice Inc., a New York based organization has to date raised more than $20 million over the past 40 years restoring more than 400 works of art. The organization currently has 30 projects underway throughout this beautiful gem of the Adriatic. Financial support through individuals, corporations and foundations make efforts to restore projects possible. The evening of “Un Ballo in Maschera” at the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in fact made it possible for the entity to continue their projects of restoration, specifically one of the organization’s current projects, the church of San Sebastiano. The church’s stunning canvases and frescoes were originally created by Renaissance artist Paolo Veronese (birth name: Paolo Cagliari) whose treasured work includes: “History of Esther”, “Doge’s Palace” and “Marciana Library” to name a few of the artist’s great ceiling masterpieces.
