With the evening mounted on a light and lovely theme rather than some earthquake ridden disaster relief or death and destruction hopeless themed cause, it was rather refreshing and positive. It seems there has been so much negative in the world lately and contributions going to benefit restoring entire societies or cultures such as Haiti, Africa and now Japan. It feels very, no, it feels extremely different to donate time, legal tender and a different type of attitude towards an evening focused on restoring cultural beauty rather than social necessities. Dare I say, feels “guilty”?
It’s important to preserve these works of art as they too are at the core of Western European fine art. And let’s take it a step further by saying all of the Americas was founded on Western European ideology and culture. Therefore, the appreciation for such projects by Save Venice Inc., takes us closer and closer to restoring artistic memories and perhaps a bit of our soul as well, a bit of beauty to say the least.
