Friday nights saw us heading over to chic art laboratory and salon (as they like to call themselves) Lu Magnus, a co venture between art insider Amelia Abdullahsani and her partner Lauren Scott Miller where we came to see the highly anticipated first solo opening of renowned French artist (primarily based in Berlin of late) Agathe de Balliencourt’s newest body of work – ‘Expressway to your skull.’ For those of you too lazy to read the balance of this article, we will sum up the show for you now- a brilliant parody on the nonsense that passes for art and the current cultural milieu.

Having been fortunate to first catch up with Balliencourt 2 years ago we have watched in delight as she has stretched her mantra of lively inventive installation work this time onto canvas. Asked what inspired the collection which she painted whilst in Berlin during the course of the year she responded, at the time she hadn’t been commissioned to create any installations, that said hungry to create she decided to use her canvas board as a metaphor for the visage of installation art that led to the current body of work.
