Not that this crowd was completely atypical. There was still that drunk girl on her BlackBerry in the bathroom, talking a friend into coming by saying “But it’s not really about the art!” Which is to say if anyone was wishing to reflect on the finer points of Miotte they would have been advised to come again another day. The party engulfed three highly varied floors of the museum. The basement-like bottom felt like the weirdest great club you’d ever been to, with bizarre digital films projected onto the walls while a deejay spun in the corner. The third floor, in contrast, had an atmosphere like someone was throwing a rager at their rich uncle’s penthouse while he was out of town. Look, but don’t touch.

Visit the museum yourself to see collections that range from a New Media spotlight to the largest assortments of the work of Jean Miotte anywhere.
