Attending a “tailgate party” prior to an event means 2 things; excitement is built up and having first dibs on the Zac Posen for Target collection, before it goes on sale to the general public.
A line had already formed outside the New Yorker Hotel (Note: the girl first in line arrived at 6pm and would be waiting until 11pm). Although an extremely cute collection, I personally don’t see the need to wait in a line for 5 hours for a $20 gold bikini top, but then again I’m the type of girl that has things custom delivered to her…)
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a photographer who offered to take my “polaroid” picture and “cigarette girls” distributing masquerade masks, lollipops and “I (Target symbol) Zac Posen” pins.
The space was decorated like prom- for adults but without losing the bubbly and squeaky clean image of Target. A heady image if you can image and something I am sure Mr Posen had a lot to do with. With two floors of merchandise on display, free-standing bars, male models passing hors d’oeuvres ( I’m once again betting Mr Posen hand picked those boys too…) and alt-rock girl band “The Like” rocking on stage, the upbeat vibe was incredibly infectious.
I had to laugh when I read this article. I am from Chicago and am guessing that the majority of these folks are new yorkers. Other then a couple of female B level actresses whose names I have seen in print, I haven’t a clue who these other folk are and for that matter Zac Posin is a mystery to me!
Five hours in line for target clothes?????? LOL…. only in NY! 🙂
