Zoe Lister Jones and Darryl Wein.

Moving on in the room brought me to the attention of the wonderful pair of Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister Jones who are set to release their self produced indie film “Breaking Upwards,” which debuted at last years Brooklyn Film Festival which this Scallywag was so fortunate to see. In fact the film has been critically acclaimed recently by NY Mag amongst others I trust and for those of you who relish charming films about young adolescents deeply in love but comically screwed up (vintage Woody Allen -1970’s) then they ought to come out for the opening weekend and see this gem. Tickets here – You can buy them here on movietickets website: http://www.movietickets.com/movie_detail.asp?movie_id=87461.

Of course there were other savory types in attendance, the very spunky Diane Neal (“Law & Order SVU”) who couldn’t keep her eyes off this author or was it the other way round(?), Caitlin Moe, Chloe Zhao, Kelly Tomashoff, and Anya Jordanova. With the Gen Art series beginning the 7th of April and running until the 13th, it’s true to say that this Scallywag is very much anticipating some stellar work. That said each premiere is followed by a party at NYC’s hot spots including Avenue, SL, and Hudson Terrace. Featured actors in the films Adrian Grenier, Blythe Danner, Timothy Olyphant, Rachel Bilson, Carla Gugino, Scott Caan, Amy Sedaris, amongst others.

Of course let’s hope the above actors keep their misbehaving on screen as opposed to off stage, a lovely evening indeed…
