Ranging from bracelets to cuffs, necklaces and earrings, all the staples of a girl’s dream accessory closet was put on display for the women to fawn over. Blake describes how her inspiration came from her recent trip to Greece – she wanted to go along the path of the Athenian warrior. Her love of Egypt also came into play as she incorporated scarabs that she found online into a bold pendant adorned with onyx and lapis. As written on a press release: “Neunique’s designs embody the powerful woman of today: sexy and playful, yet professionally ambitious and socially conscious. The pieces are versatile and can easily go from a day in the office to a night on the town.”

Partnered with Neunique was the charity ‘Bottomless Closet’ with the mission “to empower women to gain financial independence.” Bottomless Closet is an organization that provides professional attire, resume review and professional development workshops for disadvantaged women in New York City. Blake became an active participant in this cause after dropping off her clothes 2 years ago at this charity, and decided to donate 20% of all proceeds at the event. Her publicist Polina states how “most people just donate to the charity for publicity, however, Sophie is the real deal – going out of her way to be an active volunteer just for the sake of contributing to the cause.” Having chosen this particular charity because she believes that they speak to the current economic situation, Blake affirms that she will continue to partner with charities as her jewelry “always strived to foster an awareness of the social injustices facing women around the globe through her designs.”

Just like the fun and whimsical feel of her jewelry, Blake says how she planned out this event (in partnership with a line of lipstick sold at Barneys New York and other boutiques named: Lipstick Queen and an award winning Brooklyn based eco-friendly bath and spa product line called: CeleBritAy) as a fun light-hearted feel with the main event of the night: raffle tickets. With every person that donated a piece of clothing – be that it be an accessory or a dress — a raffle ticket was distributed in hopes of winning a dangly blue cuff from Neunique, makeup from Lipstick Queen or body care products from CeleBriTay. Near the end of the night, enthusiastic yelps came from all corners of the room as women sprinted up to the tables to receive their gifts. The owner of CeleBritAy: Liz Santiago, who makes all her products herself with natural and organic materials, states, “I fell in love with the concept of projecting the power and vitality of women.” Empowerment was the key word to describe the event, the message that oozed from all the products and the philosophy of the designers/owners themselves.

Far after the raffle tickets had given the satisfaction of beautiful and fundamental prizes to the lucky raffle holders, people continuously seemed to linger, asking for seconds and thirds of the Figenza – a fig flavored vodka that was exclusive to the restaurant. Reveling in the aura and etiquette of Blake’s jewelry line-Neunique I finally set out into the evening every bit imagining myself a powerful and confident warrior-woman.
