Kelsey James a 22 year old mother has been charged with with risk of injury and leaving a child unsupervised after she came to pass out drunk and end up being taken to hospital whilst her toddler child remained in her locked car in the parking lot overnight.
According to Bristol, Connecticut cops the child’s whereabouts came to be known after the woman woke up at the hospital asking for her child, leading to cops finding Kelsey James’ 2 year old daughter still asleep in a parked car. Cops would tell a total of 6 hours had passed since the time the mother passed out at the bar and her waking up at hospital.
Cops would tell Kelsey James had come to be taken to a local hospital after attempting to enter a vehicle that wasn’t hers.
Told Ron Phibrick, general manager of City Sports Grille at 177 Farmington Avenue via WFSB where Kelsey James had gone drinking this past Friday night: ‘Apparently talking to her, she was very incoherent. She tried to break into a car that wasn’t hers. At that point we called police in fear for her safety.’
Staff said she’d arrived around 11pm and was refused alcohol. Instead, James was given a glass of water before scrambling to the parking lot.
‘The fact that she drove here. I don’t even know how she drove here. It amazed me because her eyes were barely open,’ told bartender Courtney Lausier.
James was released after posting $50,000 bail and will appear in Bristol Superior Court on September 2.
Neighbors told WFSB they were shocked and that James is a good mother.
‘Kelsey is a wonderful young girl; has a baby, is very responsible. The family is wonderful,’ Pam Drzewiecki said.
