A North Miami Beach, Florida man was killed in a ‘freak accident’ on Friday while handling pastry making equipment at a grocery store where he worked.
Mordehay Grunberger, 71, died at South Florida Kosher Market located at 1324 Northeast 163rd Street following an accident involving an industrial dough mixer.
Investigators said the 71-year-old man ‘somehow’ became caught in the ‘industrial’ device around 4am Friday, only to die from his injuries, according to Local10.
What led up to industrial dough mixer accident?
Grunberger was a long-time employee at the mart where he worked as a pastry chef.
Police said the incident happened at around 4am but officers did not arrive at the scene until nearly eight hours later.
Maria Pinilos, spokesperson for the North Miami Beach Police Department (NMBPD), said officers attended the scene at 11.40am after reports of an accident within the shop, the Miami Herald reported.
Not immediately clear is why it took nearly eight hours before police arrived at the scene and how soon the 71-year-old died after the ‘accident.’
Shared the victim’s wife, Inna Gastman Maor on social media, ‘Today, my beloved husband Miki, my closest person in my life my best friend, and father of my two beautiful sons, tragically passed away!’
While details of what exactly happened are still unclear, police said Grunberger died after somehow getting caught in the machine.
Tragic social media post just days earlier
‘I lost myself,’ the grieving widow added. ‘I love him so much. He’s the love of my life!’
Just five days before Miki’s death, wife, Inna shared what is now a haunting social media post.
Inna posted a video reel of pictures from an evening out with her family, including one of herself and her husband inside a restaurant set to the song ‘Enjoy Every Moment’.
Law enforcement said that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was investigating the site.
Grunberger’s death showed no signs of foul play and seemed to be accidental, police said.
An investigation into what happened is ongoing.
