Had he run away? A missing 12-year-old Chickasha boy whose parents were last week arrested on child and sexual abuse charges was on Sunday found alive according to Oklahoma authorities.

‘Ryan “RJ” Davis was located safe in Chickasha this afternoon,’ OSBI officials wrote in a Facebook release on Sunday, January 11.

‘The OSBI appreciates all our local law enforcement partners and search groups who assisted us throughout the week. We will provide updates when they become available,’ officials said.

In a follow up, Sunday afternoon officials said the missing 12-year-old was found safe by two volunteers from Texas in Caddo County, Oklahoma. The volunteers found Davis around noon on Sunday while searching on foot somewhere indoors near where he lived with his mother and stepfather.

‘He was apologetic, terrified, super scared like he was gonna be in trouble. We reassured him this wasn’t his fault, he’s safe, and gave him a big hug,’ one of the volunteers said. ‘We had to get a tissue, I had to wipe his tears.’

Davis had been missing since Jan. 2 and was last seen on foot at Fourth Street and East Grand Avenue near the Quality Inn in Chickasha.

Law enforcement arrested the boy’s biological mother, Kimberly Cole and step-father, George Cole on Wednesday. They were booked into the Caddo County jail with OSBI officials saying that the two were arrested on suspicion of child abuse and child sexual abuse.

Family members promise to return Chickasha boy to ‘safe environment’

Tina Molina, RJ’s step-grand-aunt, filed a protective order on Jan. 5 against Kimberly and George according to FOX25.

This was not the first time RJ went missing, and the Chickasha police chief has assured that RJ will not return to his previous home.

Members of the community aided in searching for RJ, and the Chickasha community came together during a Friday vigil for RJ with the message ‘RJ, come home, you are safe.’

Leading up to the boy’s discovery, search teams had deployed drones, search dogs and other resources across rural areas between Caddo and Grady counties. OSBI has also offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the boy’s safe return.

Authorities had yet to comment where the boy had been staying in the days he went missing and whether he may have chosen to run away given the alleged abuse he may have been subjected to.

Both parents remain jailed in Caddo County, according to online records.
