Laura Caron Middle Township Elementary 13 year old student lover begged family members not to go to police after NJ teacher gave birth to their child following ongoing sexual assault of boy.
A then 13 year old New Jersey area boy who fathered his teacher’s baby pleaded with family members to keep the child’s birth a secret so his violator wouldn’t have to go to jail, new released details have revealed according to Cape May County prosecutors.
The revelations come one day after Laura Caron, 34, a fifth grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary was arrested in the ongoing sexual assault of the then 13 year old who first became sexually involved with his elementary teacher while living at her Bucks County home with his siblings.
Canon became a focus of police investigations after the boy’s father noted uncanny similarities between his son and the elementary teacher’s 5 year old son, after the woman sharing images on social media in December.
Middle Township teacher duplicitous behaviour
Upon her arrest, Canon was was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Michael Emmer in conjunction with Middle Township Police Chief Tracey Super said Wednesday.
The educator gave birth to the then 13-year-old’s child in 2019 when she was 28, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Patch.
Caron was the boy’s and his brother’s fifth grade teacher, authorities said. His mother became close with Caron and began to let them spend the night at her house when Caron offered to watch the children – starting at one or two times a week, which turned into the boys and their sister living permanently at Caron’s home from 2016 to 2020, according to the documents. This is the time period that prosecutors allege Caron was assaulting the child.
His sister told authorities that the children would sleep in a shared room on the second floor, but she would wake up and find her brother in Caron’s bed.
13 year old student victim lover pleads to keep secret
Court documents itemised instances of duplicitous behaviour including Caron entering the bathroom when the victim would shower and locking the door behind her the Daily Voice reported.
Other egregious instances involved the victim’s brother observing the sibling victim and Caron engaging in a sexual act while they believed him to be asleep. The sibling said he thought his brother was 11 at the time, according to the affidavit.
After Caron’s baby was born, the victim permanently slept in her room and kept his clothes in her drawer, documents said.
Not immediately clear is how the siblings came to end up living permanently with Caron.
Following the victim’s father approaching Middle Township officials, the victim now believed to be around 20 years old, conceding that he was the father of Caron’s child. The 20 year old relayed having texted his sister at one point admitting to being the child’s father, while imploring her to keep it a secret so Caron wouldn’t get in trouble, according to documents.
The victim said he kept in contact with Caron until his father made the social media post.
Following the 5th grade teacher’s arrest, Middle Township School District Superintendent Dr. David Salvo released a statement saying, ‘When the district was first advised of the allegations, the staff member was immediately placed on and continues to be on paid administrative leave.’
Come Thursday, Caron faced a judge during a virtual hearing, where was advised of her rights, 6abc reported.
Caron is currently jailed at the Cape May County Correctional Facility with no bond as she now awaits a detention hearing scheduled for next Thursday.
