Kingsport TN house fire on Christmas Day leaves 11 & 9 year-old sisters dead

Nicole Dockins Blevins, Kingsport, Tennessee mom suffers catastrophic injuries attempting to save the lives of her two young daughters during Christmas morning house fire only for the girls to tragically die. Cause of blaze yet to be determined as mom loses everything and is now fighting for her life. 

A house fire in Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee on Christmas morning has left two young sisters dead and their mother suffering critical injuries. 

Identified as the victims were Riley Blevins, 11, and Maggie Blevins, 9. A GoFundme fundraiser for their mother who suffered catastrophic injuries while attempting to save her daughters identified the parent as Nicole Dockins Blevins.

Sullivan County, TN mom left with catastrophic injuries trying to save her daughters 

Nicole Blevins is currently being treated in an ICU burn unit in North Carolina, where she faces a long and painful recovery.

In a release, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office stated responding to a call around 6:15 a.m. Thursday for a house fire in the 600 block of West Valley Drive. Two people were reported still inside the house at the time of the call.

Fire crews from Sullivan West, Warriors Path, and Fall Branch Fire Departments, along with Sullivan County EMS, rushed to the scene.

Despite efforts to save the trapped daughters, the two girls died in the blaze. The cause of their deaths has yet to be determined.

Mom forced to jump from second story window amid blaze to save her own life

Family members say Nicole has suffered broken ribs, a collapsed lung requiring a chest tube, a broken clavicle, a fractured back, second degree burns to her face, and third degree burns from her neck to her buttocks. Her hair was burned, and she will require extensive skin grafts. She has also been placed on a feeding tube and is experiencing severe pain and overwhelming grief.

It is reported that Nicole had to jump from a second story window to save her own life.

The fire destroyed everything, including the family’s home and vehicle. Nicole has nothing to return to once she is released from the hospital.

Fundraiser launched for mom who lost everything

Loved ones say the family is now facing enormous medical expenses, long term rehabilitation, and basic living needs, all while mourning the unimaginable loss of 2 children.

A fundraiser is being organized by Nicole’s sister to help cover medical costs, recovery needs, and future living expenses. As of Sunday morning more than $140K had been raised.

Sullivan County detectives are investigating the cause of the fire. No additional details have been released at this time.
