Karima Frasier, Brewton, Alabama mom arrested putting marijuana residue inside children’s candy bags at kindergarten Christmas party.
An Alabama parent is accused of putting marijuana bits inside ‘multiple’ candy bags that she brought to a children’s kindergarten Christmas party.
Karima Frasier, 26, is alleged to have brought numerous bags of candy to a classroom at Brewton Elementary School for a Christmas party on Dec. 18.
But there were more than just ‘sweet’ treats awaiting unsuspecting children, FOX10 reported.
Parents at kids party become suspicious after noticing what appeared to be marijuana remnants inside ‘candy’ bags
According to court documents, numerous clear bags containing a ‘variety of candy’ with marijuana found to be given to children during the holiday event.
Investigators said following the class party, a parent called school officials after seeing what appeared to be marijuana remnants inside their child’s candy bag.
Brewton police were notified, with cops gathering four separate candy bags that contained suspected marijuana residue mixed with wrapped candy inside the bags, AL.com reported.
Brewton Police Chief Matt Jordan said that Frasier was arrested the next day and charged with distribution of a controlled substance to a minor and chemical endangerment of a child.
Potential tragedy averted
Police officials worked with school administrators to notify all parents to prevent any possible ingestion of the illicit substance, Jordan said. None of the students have reported feeling ill.
Brewton City Schools Superintendent Kevin Wiessman said he is thankful the students involved are safe and for the quick police response.
Frasier was booked on a $300,000 bond.
