Andrew Wolfe of Inwood, West Virginia identified as one of the two National Guard member shot at hands of Afghan national during Washington D.C ambush shooting. Remains in critical condition. 

One of the two West Virginia National Guard members shot in an ambush, Wednesday afternoon at the hands of an Afghan national has been identified as Andrew Wolfe, according to his former high school.

‘Our Applemen community is deeply saddened to learn that Musselman High School alumnus, Andrew Wolfe, was one of the National Guardsmen injured in the shooting in Washington, D.C. today,’ Musselman High School in Inwood, West Virginia posted on Facebook.

Wolfe is currently undergoing surgery and is in critical condition after Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, allegedly opened fire on him and a female National Guard member in Washington D.C, near the Farragut West Metro Station in Northwest DC in a ‘targeted’ shooting as they were patrolling just blocks from the White House.

Who is Afghan national and how did he arrive in the U.S?

Posted Andrew’s parents, Davida Davis Wolfe and Conner Wolfe months earlier on May 28: Today we dropped Andrew off at the armory to leave tomorrow for boot camp at Ft. Sills, Oklahoma. We are so proud of Andrew and taking this step for his life in the US National Guard Reserves.

The second National Guardswoman, who was allegedly shot in the chest and head by the Afghan national, has not yet been identified. They too remained in critical condition. 

The gunman who sustained four bullets wounds after a third National Guard member arrived on the scene was currently in hospital with initial reports stating he had been part of Afghans who had worked alongside US Special Forces while serving in the Afghan Army for 10 years.

Lakanwal was offered a short term visa by then President Biden’s program to assist vulnerable Afghan locals, with the 29-year-old immigrating to the U.S in 2021 during the U.S pullout from the war torn Middle East nation.

At the time of the shooting, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, had been residing in Bellingham, Washington.
