The body of a Lexington, South Carolina woman who went missing after leaving the gym last week is believed to have been found according to local authorities.
On Wednesday night, authorities stated finding a body that they believed is that of missing 39-year-old Lexington woman, Elena Katherine Moore.
Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green during a press briefing stated the woman was wearing clothing similar to what Moore was seen wearing when she was last seen. Green says a tip came in leading them to the area where the body was found, abc13 reported.
Cause and manner of death pending after body found in woods
The official stated the woman’s body was recovered in the Berkshire district.
Green says the coroner is working to identify the body. A cause and manner of death is pending.
Moore, a known fixture in the fitness community in Lexington, was last seen on Thursday, June 11, on surveillance video at a Planet Fitness in Lexington. She was then seen roughly three hours later walking in a Publix parking lot close to the gym where she was observed walking toward a wooded area behind a nearby home improvement store.
Surveillance placed Moore at a Publix grocery store parking lot around 9:17 p.m. the night she disappeared according to WJBF.

She was wearing an olive-green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants. Lexington County detectives say it is unclear whether she had her cellphone with her.
Moore failed to arrive home later that evening, with her ‘distraught’ husband notifying authorities.
Released doorbell video shared by the U.S Sun captured by a neighbor a week before Moore’s disappearance claims the 39-year-old pretending to be a Doordash delivery worker.
When asked by the home owner what she was doing, Moore is alleged to have responded that ‘she didn’t know’.
Moore was described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs approximately 120 pounds and having brown hair and brown eyes.
Authorities had yet to say what they believe may have happened to Moore after leaving the gym and whether they suspect foul play.
