A Texas woman faces capital murder after attacking and killing her own child before attacking her own mother and attempting and failing a suicide bid.
It all started early Saturday morning, March 29 in Bloomburg, Cass County, East Texas.
At 6:31 a.m., Atlanta Police got a frantic 911 call from a home on FM 74. A woman, Jacki Kubin, ran to a neighbor’s house, bleeding and terrified, begging for help.
The horrified neighbor quickly called 911 and reported seeing a suspicious car speeding away.
When police arrived, they found 9-year-old girl, Abigail French suffering ‘severe trauma.’ Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, only for the girl to mortally succumb to her injuries.
The manner and cause of the 9 year old girl’s death was not disclosed.
Police tracked the suspect’s abandoned car nearby and sent out drones. Soon, they found the suspect—Abigail’s own mother, Allison French! She had injured herself but was still alive.
Allison French was arrested and taken to a hospital with self inflicted injuries, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department said in a Facebook release.
‘We would like to thank the Texas Parks & Wildlife Officers, the Atlanta Police Department, and ESD 3 for their assistance in quickly bringing the apprehension of Allison French,’ said the Atlanta Police Department.
Police later charged her with capital murder.
Abigail’s grandmother, Jacki Kubin, is being treated for defensive wounds—injuries she got while fighting for her life.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office has said there is no additional information to release.
No known motive was immediately released nor the whereabouts of the 9 year old girl’s father.
