Katie Santry, Columbus, Ohio mystery rug reveals no body or bones amid intrigue after rolled up carpet was found dug into recently acquired property.
Ohio police have momentarily announced— as social media watched on with bated breath — that no body or bones was found in the backyard of a Columbus yard after intrigue that a body may have been buried amid a rolled up rug recently discovered by a new homeowner.
Katie Santry, 34, enthralled crime buffs when she posted a viral Tiktok video earlier this week revealing that she and her boyfriend had found a mysterious shag carpet underground while digging up their lawn to build a fence on the recently purchased property.
‘There are guesses about actual bodies. Apparently, a lot of people go missing in Columbus, Ohio — something I’m not too familiar with, even though I am a big crime junkie,’ Santry said in a series of videos, one of which had raked in more than 9 million views as of Friday.
Columbus police confirmed NO body or anything was found.
They’re tearing down the scene.
What a ride.
The rug was empty. Thank goodness.
Thanks Katie Santry for taking us along for the ride.

‘No bones, no human remains, anything of that sort was found,’
‘The Internet is about 50/50 on whether it’s a dead body or an animal, and maybe 10 percent think this was just a junkyard.’
Speculation was further amped up when Columbus police brought in cadaver dogs to the scene Thursday evening, with the canines signalling that something might be amiss. In turn Ohio police brought in an excavator Friday morning.
Come Friday just before 1pm reports confirmed police not finding no body or anything in Santry’s backyard. Except for the rolled up rug that triggered the initial intrigue.
‘No bones, no human remains, anything of that sort was found,’ a reporter stationed at Santry’s yard announced.
The statement comes as police had started digging up parts of the backyard, with the sister of missing Columbus man Dennis ‘Danny’ Fout, who vanished in the area five years ago, being one of the eager looker ons.

A woman on tiktok joked her house was haunted and then was digging in her backyard to build a firepit and came across a rug buried 2.5 feet deep and was urged to call police who sent 2 cadaver dogs and they both signaled for a dead body and now half her yard’s a crime scene pic.twitter.com/tcz8gfgxO2

So how and why did the rug end up getting buried in the backyard?
Explained Columbus Division of Police spokeswoman Jennifer Watson via the Columbus Dispatch that ‘it could be anything‘ buried at the spot.
‘It could be body oil, it could be sweat. It could be blood, like maybe a nick or a paper cut, something as insignificant as that. At this time, we don’t know what we’re looking at.’
While it could be insignificant, police are still ‘treating it as seriously as we can.’
‘You can’t leave any stone unturned in these incidents, so we just want to make sure that we are doing our due diligence,’ Watson told the outlet.
‘There’s a tent set up and there’s nine police officers and CSI in the backyard,’ Watson once again reiterated Friday morning.
‘Homicide is here and missing persons, and CSI is bringing the shovels out.
‘They’ve blocked how far I’m allowed to even go.’
Nevertheless the question now remains why was the rolled up rug even buried in the backyard and simply not put out in the rubbish for local garbage collectors?
