Adam Byrd, San Antonio, Texas man shoots girlfriend Jade Alyssa Alvarez dead after she said she did not want to have his baby. Arrest came days after boyfriend was charged with armed robbery. 

A Texas man allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend after refusing to have his baby, just days after robbing a San Antonio store at gunpoint. 

Adam Byrd, 23, of was charged with the shooting murder of girlfriend, Jade Alyssa Alvarez, 22, five days after he was arrested on two aggravated robbery charges.

Alvarez’s dead body was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Capitol Avenue around 6:30 a.m. on April 6, KSAT reported.

A woman who had been with Alvarez the night before the shooting told police the victim had been dating Byrd according to an arrest affidavit. 

He had been talking to Alvarez on the woman’s phone and asked for her to be dropped off on Capitol Avenue, where she was found dead hours later, KENS5 reported

Girlfriend killed following argument

The witness identified Byrd from a photo provided by San Antonio Police. At the time, Byrd had an active arrest warrant for two counts of aggravated robbery from the stickup earlier in the month. 

After being taken into custody this week and questioned about the robbery, Byrd admitted to police that he had killed Alvarez over an argument about how he wanted to have a child with her, but she did not. 

He also admitted to using the same gun to kill her as the one he used during the robbery, according to affidavit.

It remained unclear how long Byrd had been involved with the victim prior to gunning her down.

Read an online obituary for the girlfriend in part: ‘Jade Alyssa Alvarez age 22 was taken from us too soon and went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2023. She graduated high school in 2018 and worked in the food industry and planned to attend college in the fall.

‘She is survived by her 3 year old son, Jeremiah Rodriguez and his father, Angelo Rodriguez. She is also survived by her parents, Jonathan Alvarez and Isabel Picaso Alvarez; brothers, Jonathan and Jovanni; grandparents, Rita C. Garcia and Alicia and Ross McCalpine; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.’ 

In addition to two counts of aggravated robbery, Byrd is also charged with murder. His bond for the murder charge is set at $250,000.

Byrd remains held at Bexar County Jail.
