Florida man, Amir Beg arrested trying to stab his father to death while free on bail after threatening to murder his parents two months ago at their Orlando home.
A Florida man free on bail after allegedly threatening to murder his parents two months ago has been arrested after purportedly plunging a kitchen knife into his father’s neck in a second attempt to kill the man according to reports.
Amir Beg, 33, of Tampa was booked Sunday on an attempted homicide charge after deputies found his father stabbed multiple times in the face and neck at a home in Newberry where his relatives were visiting, the Gainesville Sun reported.
Investigators said it’s unclear how Beg got into the home — whether he was allowed inside or made his way through an unlocked door. At some point a violent confrontation broke out as Beg met his father in a living room, according to an arrest report from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
‘He had a knife in his waistband and a couple other knives were located inside the home,’ department spokesman Art Forgey told WGFL. ‘They also found his father with multiple stab wounds.’
An arrest report noted the son in possession of three large kitchen knives.
Deputies told WCJB that Beg’s mother found her ‘bloodied’ husband on the floor with a knife lodged in his neck. The media outlet reported the weekend attack occurring just two months after police said Beg pulled out a gun and threatened to kill his parents in their Orlando home.
Beg was arrested on May 13 on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery on a person aged 65 or older and conspiracy to commit battery. He was released two days later from an Orange County jail after posting $15,500 bail, the Gainesville Sun reported.
Beg’s father was listed in stable condition at a hospital in Gainesville on Sunday. Come Tuesday the man was no longer listed as a patient at the hospital a spokeswoman told the nypost.
Beg remains in custody Wednesday on $1 million bond, jail records show.
Not immediately clear is what compelled the son to seek to murder his parents.
