Tyrese Lynch arrested in the murder of Philadelphia woman, Isis Williams. Shot dead by her boyfriend five days after giving birth to their baby daughter.

A Philadelphia man has surrendered to authorities after fatally shooting his girlfriend early Friday morning while the couple’s baby lay in a crib a few feet away.

Tyrese Lynch, 32, surrendered to Philadelphia police around noon Monday in the killing of Isis Williams, 24.

ABC News reported the woman’s murder taking place five days after Williams giving birth to her third child.

Authorities found Williams dead around 4 a.m. Friday inside a home on the 6300 block of North Woodstock Street in Logan.

Police believe Lynch shot Williams in the head with the couple’s five-day-old daughter in a crib just steps away. Police said the newborn girl was unharmed in the shooting incident.

Williams’ aunt, Aspara Agyeman said at the time of the shooting, her niece was on the phone with her mother- who commented, ‘hearing the shots as they rang out’.  Agyeman has been caring for the now week-old infant since Williams was murdered.

On a GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral costs, a family member says the relationship between Williams and Lynch was abusive.

Investigators said there were signs of a struggle in the home, furniture was overturned, but the baby was not injured.

Neighbors said they heard an argument before Williams was found.

‘He was calling her derogatory names,’ said neighbor Melvina Hall. ‘It was very loud.’

Intimate partner violence — particularly the type involving the fatal use of a firearm — has been linked to Black women in the U.S. at far higher rates than those of any other race. According to a 2009 study commissioned by the Department of Justice, black women were found to be four times more likely than white women to be murdered by a boyfriend or girlfriend.

A vigil is planned for Monday evening to remember Isis Williams in her neighborhood.

Unclear is the identity of the father of Isis Williams’ two other children.
